Pilgrimage

January 2017

A pilgrimage evokes romantic images of faraway lands.  But a pilgrimage can also pop out of life quite unexpectedly; any journey involving drastic physical movement has the potential to shift and awaken.
There is something intrinsically powerful about battling away amongst powerful natural elements—rain, sleet, wind, cold, time, distance; the purity of these conditions disintegrates the human tendency to turn against ourselves. The seeker is simply present, awakened to her fully alive inner, primal world. And the world rages around with natural grace and power. She marvels at unstoppable forces and gasps in joy at her true marginal nature: tiny and naturally dependent. She falls in love with honest action. She gathers up, renewed and focused. She knows she has a vital offering, and she must continue on her way.
