Accessing our creativity can be tricky. However, this is only a surface illusion. Creativity is as natural as breathing. So what causes that choking feeling, that sense that the creative embrace is very far away? My sense is that it's easy to approach this hope from a limited angle: as long as the desire to have control over innate creativity is there, we are stuck.
Here are a list of tips: 1. Set aside an entire day to honor your creative process. 2. Allow yourself to be distracted. But be distracted with useful activities in other areas of your life. Notice the nourishment you receive from your distracted activity. 3. Have a special area for all your materials, etc. One large table, with lots of good lighting, is great. 4. Honor your sense of relish as you return to your "special area" throughout the day. Celebrate all your incremental movement (you will naturally; creativity that's in motion is synonymous with love.) More to come! |
